NEWSLETTER The CASSON 2006 National Conference to be hosted by the State Chapter recently got a boost when Her Excellency, Hajiya Zaynab A. Kure, wife of the Executive Governor of the Niger State accepted to serve as Chief Host. In her remarks after accepting to the request put to her, Her Excellency thanked God for CASSON Nigeria and for choosing Niger State to be the host of the 2006 Conference. She expressed the delight of Project “YES” to a role at the 30 th Annual National Conference of CASSON. She felt challenged and promised to stand up to the challenge, by accepting to be the Chief Host and to make come August 2006, to be the best and most successful ever hosted in the history of CASSON, Nigeria. She then congratulated every member of the State LOC and urged them to work as a formidable team to achieve the vision of CASSON 2006. Earlier in his opening remarks, the Patron/Host of the Conference Professor Ibrahim Adamu Kolo, Provost, C.O.E. Minna welcomed all stakeholders to the inauguration and gave a brief background of CASSON in Nigeria and reminded the gathering about the how Her Excellency, Hajiya Zaynab Kure became a recipient of the Honourary Award of CASSON Nigeria. The State Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 30 th Annual National Conference of the counseling Association of Nigeria (CASSON) tagged, ‘Power State CASSON 2006' was then inaugurated by Her Excellency, the wife of the State Governor & Initiator/Motivator, Project “YES”, Hajiya Zaynab A. Kure at the Banquet Hall of the General Abdusalami Abubakar Youth Center, Minna on Wednesday 23 rd November 2005. CASSON (Niger State Chapter) draws its LOC membership for Minna 2006 from Niger State College of Education, Niger State Ministry of Education, Niger State Commission for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Youth Development Commission, Niger State Polytechnic, Federal University of Technology Minna and Project “YES” which is the pet project of Her Excellency, Hajiya Zaynab A. Kure.
TWELVE SUB-COMMITTEES CONSTITUTED Following the inauguration ceremony by Her Excellency, Hajiya Zaynab A. Kure, the State LOC swung into action and commenced its maiden meeting with the constitution of twelve sub-committees. These committees were charged to embark on the mobilization of resources, creation of awareness and to see to the involvement of all teacher counselors and other stakeholders, create policy sensitization by paying courtesy calls and visits to key state functionaries, etc. The Committees include
