REPORT ON THE 29TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) HELD AT THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION LECTURE THEATER, UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE ON THE 15TH AUGUST 2005.

Opening

The 29th Annual General meeting started at about 2:00 pm Dr.A.M. Dansarai and a Reverend, name not given, said the Muslim and Christian Prayer in that order

President’s Remarks

The president,Prof.(Mrs.) Okobiah thank God for his mercies and warmly welcome members to the A.G.M. The occasion was a unique one, because it was her maiden outing to chair and AGM after her election into the office of the president.

Reading, Correction and Adoption of Previous Minutes.


Members read the minutes individually and the following errors were corrected: P26, Mallam Bokko I.T and not Bokko, I.I. said the closing prayer at Maiduguri.    

The attendance list of Lagos chapter continued on P.20 and not Nasarawa State.

God bless, and not god bless, P28 was the closing statement of the Auditor.

The name of Tor-Anyiin, S.A. and Ruth Adamu of Benue Chapter were omitted on the attendance list, so also Chimah/, V.I.Igwe, Uloma, Mbachu, V.A. (Mrs.), Umunnah, L.N. (Mrs) and Dr. Nnodum, B.I. (Mrs.) all of the Imo chapter. Prof. (Mrs.) O.C. Okobiah was also omitted from  the 2004 list.

Following these corrections, counsellors Isaac Ashieze (Delta) and Olororo, G.H.K (Kwara) moved the motion of the adoption of the minutes and seconded respectively. The minutes was then subjected to discussion as an official legal document

Issues that would have been discussed under this sub-section have been slated for consideration as main business of the day.

2006 Conference.

The congress was unanimous on the venue of 2006 CASSON Conference. Niger state chapter was given the hosting right, subject however , to meeting the conditions as would be communicated to the chapter by the secretary General.

The central theme for 2006 conferenceis, ’’COUNSELLING  FOR POLITICAL STABILITY.’’
